Toward A More Perfect Union

About the Book

Without a doubt, these are challenging times we live in. Climate change, wealth inequality, war, the pandemic, political instability and the weakening of democratic principles,  oligarchs and kleptocrats, the flourishing of conspiracy theories, corporate consolidation and monopolization, and more are creating much turbulence and turmoil.

It’s obvious we’re on the wrong trajectory. We’ve gotten so far off-track from our collective dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—in many ways, it’s become a nightmare.

It was a few months into the pandemic that I began writing this book. I saw that the flaws in the system—flaws that have been there since the founding of the U.S.—created the pandemic, yet I believed we could find a better way. I also believed in the words of Martin Luther King Jr., who famously said, “The arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”

The economic system of neoliberalism, predatory capitalism, late stage capitalism—whatever you want to call it—is failing us. It is time to envision a new way, a post-capitalism, post-scarcity, society. My book traces the historical nature of the failings of the system, and then, with a sprinkling of levity and humor, I show a path forward to a more perfect union.

As I say in the Introduction of the book, “Who among us, left to our own devices, would ever decide they wanted to make a world like the one we currently live in, which increasingly is resembling a dystopia?”

I believe we can do better. And I hope you do too.

Please join me in making this happen. You can buy/read my book, and then join us in creating a movement to design a more positive future.
